Over time, leaky ducts can lead to substantial energy loss and HVAC system inefficiency in your Hillsborough, Florida, home. Learn how sealing your ducts with Aeroseal can get your HVAC system back on track and help you stay cool this spring.

Aeroseal Basics

Aeroseal is an advanced technology developed at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in the late 20th century. It requires a trained technician to inject an Aeroseal solution into a duct system. Once released, the particles remain suspended in the network of ducts. They don’t attach to the surface until they exit the pressurized ducts, when they attach to the edges of leaks, holes, and cracks. When the Aeroseal process is complete, particles will seal virtually all leaks in the system.

Increased HVAC Efficiency

An effective and streamlined method for resolving leaky ducts, Aeroseal also increases the overall efficiency of your HVAC system. In addition to the age and technical capabilities of your home’s system, the state of its ductwork has a significant impact on efficiency. Aeroseal can take typical ductwork, which loses 20 to 30 percent of the air that passes through, and reduce leakage by up to 90 percent.

Extended Equipment Lifespan

When your HVAC system has to work harder to move conditioned air from the central unit to each room in your home, it’s likely to experience more frequent breakdowns and wear out sooner than expected. By sealing your ducts and improving overall system efficiency, however, you’ll also extend the life of your heating and cooling system.

Improved Indoor Air Quality

Air that leaks from your ductwork is likely to be contaminated with dirt, dust, mold, and pet dander. In short, it’s often teeming with allergens and other airborne contaminants. By sealing your ducts, you’ll reduce the chances of indoor pollutants entering or exiting the ductwork, thereby improving the air quality throughout your home.
